Thematic Areas !

1. Education

KESUDE supports inclusive and integrated schools by providing learning materials, assistive devices (wheelchairs, crutches), uniforms, and boarding support for children with disabilities. We also train teachers to improve inclusive education and raise awareness through the “We Ring the Bell” campaign, advocating for the rights of children with disabilities. Additionally, we work with schools to improve infrastructure, such as building accessible toilets and classrooms.

2. Health

We provide physiotherapy, medical treatments, assistive devices, and health insurance for families of children with disabilities.KESUDE also partners with healthcare providers to renovate hospital facilities, making them accessible for people with disabilities by improving toilets, ramps, and medical services.

3. Environment

To promote sustainability, KESUDE organizes tree planting campaigns, teaches sustainable farming techniques, and trains communities in water conservation​. We also advocate for low-fuel stoves, which reduce firewood use and indoor pollution, improving health and protecting the environment​

4. Economic Empowerment

We support families of children with disabilities by providing vocational training, entrepreneurship support, and small business funding in areas like tailoring, plumbing, and farming​. By helping families establish income-generating activities, KESUDE ensures financial stability, allowing them to better support their children​.

5. Institutional Development

To improve impact and efficiency, KESUDE focuses on staff training, fundraising, and partnerships. Strengthening internal capacity and collaboration allows us to expand our programs and create lasting change

At Karagwe Environmental and Sustainable Development (KESUDE), we are dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities by addressing critical challenges in education, healthcare, environmental conservation, and economic empowerment. Our Strategic Plan (2024–2028) serves as a roadmap to guide our interventions, ensuring that we create sustainable solutions that enhance the well-being and inclusion of marginalized communities.

Our strategy is built upon a deep understanding of the barriers faced by people with disabilities, including limited access to education, inadequate healthcare services, economic hardships, and environmental challenges. Through this plan, we aim to strengthen our programs, expand our reach, and foster long-term partnerships that will bring about meaningful change.
